Halfway homes are designed to help people to re-enter the society. These people may be are drug addicts, criminals and any type of person who has no ability to be socially responsible for one reason or another. Halfway homes are generally run by churches, government agencies and private non-profit making organizations. In case you want to help half-way people by opening a half-way home in residential community and to get paid for it, then you need to follow certain guide lines to your project. Following are some guidelines on How to start a halfway home.

Your first step is to acquire the licenses and permits needed to operate the home in the residential community you select. No people want a half-way home in their neighborhood or around the area. People believe that these homes are only for criminals and this fact scares them.  You need to apply for the zoning sanction to lift the restriction of establishment of half-way home in that particular area. Do something that makes people to welcome your project in to the community. 

According to your financial circumstances, buy or lease a property to start your half-way project. You may have to spend some more money on the modification of your purchased or leased property to cope with the zoning laws. 

Try to find a property that was a half-way home before. If you fail to do so, you have to spend a lot on the renovation of the house. Ask an expert about the law regarding the population of your halfway home. If you house more than that, you may have to face legal complications.
